brake squeal

i have only 3300 mi on my LX coupe and one of the brakes (i think front) is squealing when i brake. only when i press slightly hard though. My brakes are stock why are they squealing? how long are stock pads supposed to go?

also this is random, but did your LX come with floor mats? i think the dealer jacked me.

Probably just have some dirt on the rotor and or pads...no biggie...actually, the pads that they use in cars today are semi-metallic pads, so they will squeal a bit when you apply the brakes...

As far as the floor mats go, I have an EX (top of the line model) and I had to pay for floor mats...I don't think any of the Civys have standard floor mats...I know, it sucks, because they are like $90 a set and they charge standard labor to install em!!! Ridiculous!!! That's why I have clear floor mats over the factory ones...they last longer that way....

if you brake hard or for a long time down hills especially when the car is new you will glaze your discs. i did this on my old focus and had to clean the discs with brake cleaner. it eventually came back too, but that car had mass problems. you probably just broke in the brakes bad.
