17 or 18's on a 2" drop

Soon I will be getting koni yellows and neuspeed springs

It's around a 2.24 drop

Should I go with 17 or 18's

I have a 01 civic

Any opinions?

Re: 17 or 18's on a 2" drop

Either will work fine, it mostly comes down to personal preference. The larger you go the more expensive tires will be and the lower the selection of wheels will be, since above 16" 4x100 becomes an odd size.

Just keep in mind that 18"s will ride rougher and you'll have to pay closer attention to your tire profile to make sure it will fit. There's less selection with 18"s too.

The biggest I would ever go on a civic it 17's. 18's are just too big for my tastes.

Re: 17 or 18's on a 2" drop

I wouldn't go more than 17. I'm riding 17s and wish I had gone 16s

reasons of fitment and the ability to tuck better with 16s

i have nuespeed race springs as well and was planning on getting new struts. why are the koni's so hard to install?

also, im riding on 18's and the ride is rough. i cant tell how much of it is from the blown out stock struts.

Yeah so I'm going to try 16's

And my uncle was a mechanic so I was going to have him help me

because its not a direct replacement. you have to hack up ur stock struts and insert the tube. and u have to buy the correct size tube (50mm vs 55mm) depending on if u have a 01-02 or 03+

definitly a modder's job if ur up for it. but its damn worth the performance.

KYB wont handle anymore than a 1.5" drop.

koni yellows > tokico Dspec > koni STr.T > tokico blues > KYB

i ordered my GC directly from eibach because (if you do research) you will want to ask them for a 6" rear spring in the else you will kinda bottom out (especially if you have a sub in there). you will have to look at boilmarker's thread:

*note: read the end of his guide and he will talk about the rear 6" spring.

and here are a few install DIY just to show u what you will have to do:

Re: 17 or 18's on a 2" drop

4" drop doesnt mean your 4" from the ground it means you've dropped 4" from stock height right?

My 04 EX is 4.25 inches from the ground in the front and 4.5 inches in the back. I dropped about 2.75 inches from stock in the front and 3 in the back on my Pro S II's. Both of my fenders are 24" and 24.25" from the ground.

I would say I have about a 3" drop all around (nice and flush )

Yes. Dropping 4in means you are dropp 4in lower compared to stock height.

so the tokico d-specs dont require any modification to the stock struts? and can handle the drop?

Re: 17 or 18's on a 2" drop

from what i hear, Dspec is a decent coilover...but not as strong/well built as the yellows.

the Dspec is also a direct swap for the 7th gens. no cutting or drilling.
