does it matter?
i wanna get new wheels and tires. i have a 05 civic ex se. and the wheels on it or 195/60/15. the wheels i wanna get are 17". so i was wondering if it mattered bout the size. plus would anything change like speedo or stuff like that?

as long as you try and maintain about the same overall diameter as your oem tire, you'll be fine. Chances are, it'll mess with the speedometer just a little bit (in the realm of <2% difference)
use http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to get a general idea of what size you need, even though it won't be 100% accurate.
My 02 civic ex came with 185-65-15's and with 215/45-17's the speedometer isn't noticeably off

More times then not wheels come by themself and tires are seperate.
Just a FYI. 17 inch tires cost more then 15. Just something to think about before you change sizes.

Not only that, but typically weight more too. That can affect your gas mileage. There's more food for thought.

but you have a wider choice of "performance" tires when u go 17 instead of 15 (which is usually why u want a bigger rim with lower profile tires)

Honestly outside of looks I find little benefit to a bigger wheel. But what you say is true. Must tell the OP the bad with the good and let him decide for himself.

pros of 17"
lower profile translate into less tire flex
better corning
sharper steering + better steering response
a larger variety of performance tires
looks sporty
cons:
more expensive
usually shorter tire life due to performance tires (there are exceptions to this)
rougher ride due to the lower profile
easier to dent your rim when you hit pot holes (if u have cheap rims)

Shop around bro, a lot of wheel/tuner shops will have wheel with rubber sales goin on now that everyone is gettn amp'd up for summer. just my 2 cents but i'd go with 16's over 17's. i just traded my 17's for a set...too much wheel! my car handled better with my 15's and winter tires. 16 is perfect for our cars imo.

I will 100% agree here as well. I am running 215/45/17's on my EM2 EX and its lowered with about 1/2 a finger gap all around.... I would like to go flush but I cant due to the width of the rim (17x7) and tire. It still LOOKS GOOD but there are limitations.
Depends what your looking for in a ride. I would like to toss the 17's and go with a nice 16"..... Gas milage is about 28-30 with the 17's and 33-35 with the stock 15's...
your choice, thats just my personal experience.

what kinda style do you want? skinny spokes, fat-ish spokes, lotsa spokes..
Also, any particular price range? I can prolly find you some reaaaaaalllly nice ones, but that can run upwards of $700/wheel.. lol
here's a thread over on 8thcivic you can check out.. Granted, they're gonna be 5 lug rims, but many of them you can find with a 4-lug pattern
