Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
I guess 155,000 miles was the magic number for the front wheel bearing to go bad on my '01 LX sedan. Question is, which bearing do I want?
This?

Or something like this?

Or something I haven't looked at yet?

Re: Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
I guess it depends on quality more than anything. Another issue is where was it made? Some of that crap from China isn't worth it. I know nothing about WBs, but you usually get what you pay for when it comes to vehicle stuff.

Re: Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
No idea. I'd assume the aftermarket ones are geared more for track use and the OEM ones are for just your basic ride necessities like ride quality and stuff like that. Isn't the ride a bit stiffer/rougher with the performance struts?
Re: Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
Unnnnfortunatly the OEM bearings only come on the knuckle for these cars... so the price is much higher. However, you can expect to get 155k again out of the bearing. They last a damn long time. I have 110k on my original bearings now with no signs of wear.. I can give you a link but you won't like the price

Part #1 and/or 2 that goes for 200 dollars. Call to make sure the balljoint and bearing is installed. I'm 99% sure but not 100%. It's VERY easy to change this way as well, you can easilly do it yourself in the driveway.
If it comes with the balljoint and bearing with the knuckle 200 dollars isn't half bad BTW.

Re: Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
BJ? Bearings? that knuckle is starting to sound interesting enough!
Spare knuckle to boot, to change BJ and bearings at my leisure? sold! Hehe, maybe even time to drill them to fit the 03+/RSX 16mm struts.
I need to start looking fer me spare engine too...
The tokiko blues - they don't blow in a few months if you use lowering springs. stock tends to do it.

Re: Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
**** hang on I may have been wrong... sdaidoji is the hub part of the knuckle on these cars? OR do you have to order the hub seperately.
Re: Front Wheel Bearing: Price matters?
I'm not sure what led me to believe the bearing was pre-pressed into the knuckle but I was definitely wrong. OEM bearings are in fact sold on Soutbay Honda for 64 dollars. I must have been confusing the bearing for the balljoint as I couldn't actually remember what the knuckle came with. Part #4 on this page:

Sorry for the wrong information, can't always be right lol

Sure... it's only a little bit more work to replace it and costs like 35-60 bucks !
You can't get an OEM ball joint because that's part of the knuckle. Get a quality one like Moog or Napa.
