New brakes grinding on hard left turn

Hello everyone, new to the forum and I could use your advice. I just changed the rotors and pads on my 2003 civic hybrid, I installed EBC 850 rotors and green stuff pads. Everything seems to work well, they dont squeek at all, but it appears that the passenger side front grinds on hard left turns. I have rechecked the pads and the rotor and cant see any evidence of rubbing etc. Nothing on hard right turns or straight line travel. Any advice?
Thanks Ryan

check your dust shield, you may have bent it a little, jack the car up,take that wheel off, turn the steering wheel all the way to where it is when you hear the noise as your driving and spin the rotor, listen to hear if you hear the noise and pinpoint where its coming from

Almost certain it's the dust shield... same thing happened to me you just need to bend it away from the rotor

dust shield possible but i would look into a possible hub bearing. Put the front in the air and try and jiggle the tire top to bottom if it feels loose go get a new hub

up and down can also be ball joints, upper or lower, if it has play side to side and up and down, and your tie rod ends are tight and the ball joints dont have any visible play, it may be the bearing, but it shouldnt grind as your making a hard left turn, it should make a consistent howling, thats the verbal symptom of a wheel bearing

Re: New brakes grinding on hard left turn

If he just changed his brakes its most likely a heat shield or a major coincidence that it would start making the noise after

See i always leave out the details yess check your ***** LOL/tie rods visually but to elaborate a bearing when beginning to wear may not make as much noise until excess stress i.e. turning hard left occurs also a grip of metal shavings behind your rotor can indicate a hub issue but by that time there would be much more noise. Only cause i had the same issue with my hub turned hard and got louder couldn't hear under normal driving. And for all we know the op may have a very loud exhaust that mask's the straight line noise

Re: New brakes grinding on hard left turn

same happened on my last brake change (oem pads and brembo rotors). i still have the grinding years later and nobody could find the problem. "looks normal" they say. bending the shield didnt work. next time i will just take it off.

Re: New brakes grinding on hard left turn

Thanks guys, it was the heat shield. I actually had to pull it toward the rotor to keep it from grinding on the turns. It is about 1/8 inch off the rotor and all works fine now.
Thanks for all the help!
