Brake replacement
Brake replacement
hey guys, i live in canada and have a 2001 civic and have had it since new. so i've been driving this car for 10 years, and never replaced the brakes. the car has about 103000 kms on it, and i've been told by many friends that i should've changed brakes loooong time ago. but every mechanic i've asked says i still have 60-70% life left on the brakes (the dealer says 70%). should i replace them just because of the time/age?
thanks in advance
i should add that i don't drive like a granny, i'm still young so i hit the pedals harder than average people.

Re: Brake replacement
Keep running them until they need replacement... At that many kms when you do replace them make sure you get new rotors too... That's some great brake life. Now, your sure they are checking your fronts not rears? Rears last forever, the fronts tend to wear down.
Re: Brake replacement
The rears are 70 and the fronts are 60, if i remember correctly, if not then vice versa. I do remember Honda says i got 8mm left from the front.
