Rep Power: 0 Tire Tread Quarter Test?
It used to be a penny test but now it's the quarter test. If you put the penny or quarter into your treat, upside down (so the hair is on the bottom) and if you put the coin in, and you can see the bottom of his head, your treads are too worn out and you need new tires.
WELLLL, my mom is against me upgrading my rims and tires because she thinks I still have perfectly fine tires out there, so we went out and I showed her both the penny test and the quarter test. The penny test passed but the quarter one failed. She still wants me to wait even though its clearly said all over the internet that it's time to change tires. Having it any lower than the quarter test is dangerous, even in rainy and wet conditions.

ur car's tire's will turn into slicks soon.... a lot of people pay money for that kinda performance...
haha jk
quarter test is good, but you still have plenty of safe thread left. but when it starts failing the penny test, then you need tires asap.

But, the point is, I want new tires now, hahah. Its not like my parents are paying for it, I have enough funds for it. They just dont want me to waste money when I have "Safe" wheels out there. I'd say that my wheels aren't dangerous, but they're borderline. They have a little bit left, but it's always good to be safe, hold onto them if I would ever need them, and purchase a new set with safe-r tires.

i wait for the penny to fail lol. just go easy on them when it rains. i see so many tires that would fail there is nearly no tread left. dont know how people drive like that.

yeah the cash isnt a problem for me. I'm still in high school so all I really need to pay for is gas, unless I have any tickets or car problems that need paid for. Total for all wheels and tires would be around 700-800 dollars, which will leave me with a little over a grand for the emergencies...

700 bucks can go a long way when your in college.
My advice is mother knows best...
Take that emergency fund and put it in a CD. You can't touch it until you term is up. 6mos, 12months etc...They have high interest rates so you will build up cash quicker than a standard savings acct. Our cars last so if something happens it is likely manageable, wait until you CD term is up and boom..more $$ for your car than what you put in!

i still think that if you use the argument that having spare wheels and tires is a good one to tell ur mom, espcially that tires are the first things that touches bumps and holes.

yeah I decided to hold out on new rims/tires until these ones go kaplunk. I am looking into OEM Spoilers or a M3 Lip Spoiler.
