Question Falken Azenis RT-215 vs. RT-615

I went to a tire shop today looking for a set of Azenis RT-615's and I figured that they had a set of RT-215's sitting at the corner which was their last set and was exactly the size I want.

They quoted me $128CDN each for RT-215 and $160CDN for RT-615. I was wondering if it would be worth it to pay that much more for 615's?? So far the only difference I know between the two is the improved sidewalls in RT-615 whish makes them lighter than 215's, but does that justify paying $32 more per tire?

I was also wondering what the best tire size would be on 15 X 7 rims?

205/50,55,60/15 ??
215/50,55,60/15 ??
225/50,55,60/15 ??

thanks

your only option is 205/50/15
the 615 is supposedly better in the water (standing water with a 215 is a scary experience) and the sidewall in the 615 is lighter, although the 215 is a bit stiffer according to some.
If you're not racing, just buy the 215.
You'll be replacing them in 10K anyways.

I'll be racing, there's no point spending so much money on these tires for just street driving. So you saying I should go with the 615's eventho they'r much more expensive ?

If you're on a track, an honest to goodness track, not autocross, not canyon bullshit, buy the Kumho MXs. They tolerate heat A LOT better than either of the falkens do. For autocross, its basically a tossup. People say the 215s need to be watered down after every run, the 615s can make it 2 runs before overheating. Falken still hasn't completely taken care of the overheat problem.

they suck! I have 615s. They don't stick much and takes a while for them to warm up. Personally, for the price, you can get better tires.

Axxe is an unknown quantity at this point
MrXclusive, you may want to look at some harder tires that won't melt on the track. A lot of the guys that come to track days melt these things off like no tommorow. They are great for auto-x but not for track. And you are not allowed to use R-comps yet, so try the kumho MX's, they can handle heat much better.

Civic_RedLine will become famous soon enough
im using 615s, havent had much driving time in the dry, I just got them this past weekend. I had sampled these tires in dry and they are pretty good. Turns were easy without a tire screech, tried launching with them, traction was wayyyy better than my ziex 512. The car would jump farther and catch traction in 2nd gear. When the rain clears, I will do much more testing on them, I havent used the 215s but I was told the 615 would handle rain much better.
People say driving in the rain with the 215s is a scary experience, I been driving in the pouring rain with the 615s n really they arent scary at all, of course if I go wot in the rain I will lose traction, but Im sure the ziex would do that to. The 615s arent that scary in the rain and I havent really lost traction or hydroplaned yet, of course I go accellerate slow, but I tried accellerating fast, braking hard and havent lost traction yet...
