16x7 wheel...recommended tire size?

16x7 wheel...recommended tire size?

I need to get some new tires on the Vic. I currently have 205/50 16 tires on 16x7 wheels. Can I step up to a 215/45 16, or is the 7" wheel too narrow? I want to run a wider tire to increase traction / footprint.

Think about how many people are running 215/45/17 tires on a 17x7".

Sarcasim aside, I currently have ES100s which are 205s and the sidewall "hangs over" the wheel a little bit. My concern is whether a 215 will hang over even further. I am sure plenty of people are running this size tire, but that doesn't mean it looks good.

BTW...my plan is to get a set of RT-615s.

i had 215/40/16 on my car and they were fine, a bit small tho in sidewall.

I like the look of smaller sidewalls. I don't think a smaller sidewall is an issue unless the sidewall is too soft (and therefore flexes too much).

A 215 fits a 7" rim. You can't go claiming you want extra traction, then bitch that it looks goofy because it bulges out. Thats a conflict of interest. The ES100 has an odd sidewall thats designed to be straight and has a huge rim protector bead on it. One tire to the next fits significantly different.

umboutwo is an unknown quantity at this point

215 45 16 should be fine, I my self am running 225 45 16 es100 and they look fine, they dont even buldge out, but if your car is lowered you might have to roll your fender like i did. i have about 1.75 inch drop in the front and 1.5 in the rear. I will try to post some pic of the side wall.

I thought they were going to release all sizes after the SEMA show last month??? I am not in a huge rush to get the tires--I am going to replace my stupid KWs first.
