Water + brakes?

If water gets in your brakes/on your brake pads is that bad? Would it cause them to be less effective? What if you had one of those cars or one of those bodykits with brake scoops and it was raining and some water got directed up there. Would that be bad?

Just wondering. Sorry if this has been covered before.

water + brakes = warped rotors, less responsive, and will soon develope problems.

a temporary solution would be to mold then back by driving hard. imo

umm.... So that would mean if you go by the guy above me, that driving in the rain or snow is bad for your car, and will kill you.

The kits with brake scoops are ornamental. You need ducts for anything to actually hit the brakes. The wheel and tire are in the way.
Fire hot brakes and cold water causes a problem (rally river crossing), but you'd need to submerge the rotor in it. Spray does nothing. Brakes are slightly less effective in rain because they will develop a wet layer, but the pad acts like a squeegee and the water comes off in a revolution.

Come on guys, this is common sense, use your heads, people have been driving on wet and muddy roads since the beginning of the car.
The bigger problem is the wet road and your tire.

^yup...and as far as driving hard with warped rotors, i dont think thats a good idea, thats why you get them resurfaced.
