Offset on our cars...
offset is simply the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting surface.
so your picture is wrong.
assuming that spotted line you drew is the mounting location:

if the mounting surface is on the centerline, that is 0mm offset.
if the mounting surface is more towards the outside of the car then the centerline, that is positive offset.
if the mounting surface is more towards the inside of the car relative to the center line, that is negative offset.
a lower offset will make the wheel stick out more.
a higher offset will make the wheel sink in more.

Took me like 1/2 an hour to make that drawing, and I still was wrong
