Brakes feel mooshy
Brakes feel mooshy
My brakes are starting to feel mooshy. My rear drums are only at 20% wear and I just re-did my fronts. They are fine only 5% wear. Why do my brakes feel mooshy? Any ideas?
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

civic brakes suck. fact of life if you have OEM parts. The pedal is a little mushy but as soon as i got new pads and rotors there was like 10x as much pressure in the pedal.
Is there a method to "tightening" the pedal? When I got my car back from being inspected last year the brakes felt 1000x better. I asked the guy and he said that he pulled up on the e-brake a few times while in reverse. I've tried it, but not at any more than 1mph so it didn't work. Can anyone confirm that it works? And then explain how they did it.

Brake fluid absorbs water from the aptmosphere over time, as it does, it lowers the boiling temperature of the brake fluid... as the boiling temp drops the chances of boiling small portions of the brake fluid increases, once it boils you've got air in your lines and a spongy feel in the pedal.
The reverse thing w/ e-brake realy work but you need
to speed up to 25 km/h. Do it about 5 times. ...but il will
only adjust the pedal travel, if the travel is ok than you
should breed your brakes and change fluid by the way.

lots of things could be wrong.
but i guess air bubbles is generally always the cause.
bleed the system.. do a search on brake bleeding.. either here or online, there's different methods, i'll suggest the method from er.. stoptech.com , i think thats their site name.
remember to get someone to help u, or get a 1-man bleed kit.
while u're at it u might as well replace the entire brake fluid by flushing the entire system.
grab dot 3 or dot 4 depending on ur driving condition? replacing it all might not be necessary though, how many miles on ur car now? whats the color of ur current brake fluid? any funky green/blue colors? it should be the color of er.. beer i guess.
