Sticky Gas Pedal
Sticky Gas Pedal
Hey guys,
I noticed that my gas pedal feel "sticky" but not in a way that causes surges in acceleration. Rather, it feels physically sticky and has resistance when I step on the gas pedal, kinda like when a bicycle's V-brake cable is dirty, you feel it in the brakes levers. Put differently, stepping on my gas pedal almost feels like there are notches rather than being continuous.
Any ideas what might cause this and how to fix it?
Thanks!!

Re: Sticky Gas Pedal
Could be the cable if you have one. Remove it at throttle body to check. Know Toyota's get a little crude at the throttle butterfly. Safest way to fix is remove the large tube and maybe airfilter box. Hold open the throttle and use a rag sprayed with carb/throttle body cleaner to clean opening and butterfly. Get both sides carefully. Don't just spray. There are openings that lead places and if you wash the crud into them and it dries, it can stick throttle position sensors and stuff (the one on the Toyota truck I have had it stuck when I got it from that).
