Tire problems

Hey i just got 18's a week ago for my car. Today i had a nail stuck on the back tire. They took it out and told me they cant plug it or patch it cause its on the edge of the tire. Where the tire sort of folds. Also today im driving after getting a new tire and i hit a pothole pop goes another tire the front one. They tell me they cant fix this either cause it on the front part of the tire like the outer lip of the tire. Is this true???????????? If it is i dont thing NYC was meant for 18's. Thanks.

first problem: nyc roads..

what tire size are your 18's wrapped with? i wouldnt go with a such low profile tire cause of these kind of problems. i'd get something with a thicker sidewall and such

you just need to watch where you drive. Avoid potholes and bad rodes.

Buy some Road Hazard next time

As far as I know, if the damage is within a certain distance from the edge of the tire, or the sidewall, it is illegal for a business to fix it. I had a nail that was about an inch from the edge of the tire, and all the places I went to to get it fixed told me that they could not do it because it is too much of a liability for them, due to the law.

WOw, didnt know there was a law behind it...

and your thought is right, 18's with 35 series tires and NYC is a no no.... well, you can have them for a short period before it will bend on the highways, especially that FDR and BQE.

If it's right at the edge, dont know if that's do-able. You can try to use a tire repair kit...

Listen to this guy and you'll end up killing yourself. Are you on some sort of crack?? use your own tire repair kit??? he's already been told its too dangerous to patch the tire.

I used to install and repair tires. It does sound too risky to fix the tires you have.

Didnt I just say "dont know if it's do-able??" If the ppl already told him cant be fixed, then he doesnt really need to ask his original Q. We cant see the tire can we?
