brakes pumping

I just got a new civic ex 04 last week.
When I was driving it around yesterday though, I started feeling the brakes start pumping. This happens when I'm stopped at a traffic light and I hold down on the brakes a little. Is this a sign of a problem or just the ABS kicking in when it's not suppose to?

Also, will installing after market pads help me control the car better or are the stock good enough. I don't race btw. I just drive around and buy groceries sometimes.

They shouldn't be pumping at all when the car is stopped. Can you elaborate more about this? Does it feel like a vibration or an actual pulsating motion of the pedal you feel on your foot?

it feels like a pulsating motion, throbbing back on my foot.
Should I take it to a dealer service garage to get it checked out?

sounds like the rotors are just warped
have a shop turn them (grind them flat).

If they're pulsing when he's stopped, the rotors aren't moving, so it has nothing to do with them being warped.

It could be the brake booster or MC having some issue. If you've got a warranty, make use of it, it couldn't hurt anything.

^^^^^^^Like Boilermaker said^^^^^^^

Maybe this is too late but....if you're brakes are pumping/pulsating while you're completely stopped then it may be a problem with the brake booster and engine vacuum.

By the way engine vacuum allows for power brakes. So take it to the dealer and have them look into it.

irishtemper has a spectacular aura aboutirishtemper has a spectacular aura about
I had a problem with a 1995 s-10 and every time i would brake, i would get a noticable pulsing from the brakes, the ABS light would come on and it turned out to be the ABS controller,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,$687 if im not mistaking. So it very well could be the ABS. Im not sure how the hondas are set up as far as ABS.
