Funny noises from brakes...

okay guys, i'm thinking i'm just paranoid about my new 02 ex(just bought used...), but maybe ya'll could calm the nerves. everytime i back up, i hear the brakes squeak, but whenever braking in forward motion, squeak free. also, whenever the brakes are real cool(as in after a rain or during the winter), and i press down the brakes for the first stop, i hear both front brakes kinda 'clunk' 'clunk'....hard to describe without hearing it. other than that, my car is noise free. hope you guys can help me out...

if you are hearing that clunk, clunk noise then your rotors are warped. Take it back and have them replace them if it is still under 30 day warranty.

no...when i depress the brake pedal for the first time after not driving for awhile, i'll hear the left front brake 'clunk, then the right side 'clunk'. seriously doubt it could be the rotors, cause at higher speeds the steering wheel doesn't shake, and when braking firmly for long periods from high speed, there is no shaking...

I had the same problem, everytime I let my car sit for long periods of time and then the first time I pressed the breaks, I got this horrible noise from the rear. I got it looked at and the drums were warped. Now it is the same for the front. I used to always break and the front would slide and grind. If you have your OEm rotors, I would change them to brembo blanks or powerslot rotors.
