Which All-Season Tires should I get for my stock 15".

Ok, So i have stock 15" rims(they look like the hatchback ones, im in canada so the ex rims are different). None the less they are aluminum rims. But my firestone 690 are pieces of ****. I need to get another All-season tire before winter but I dont know which ones and what I should be looking into. Mine right now are 185-65-15. I would like to get a little bit bigger, either a 195 or a 205, and would PREFER(not that big a deal if its not) either Pirelli or Yokohama or Toyo. Like I said, i want good, high performance ones. I notice that mine are shitty in the rain and any other time. Lead me in the right direction. I also am looking for some hi-rated( like v or so rated) tires that can handle higher speeds.
Thanks all for your help in advance

I really like my bridgestone turanza tires. Pretty good all around and not very noisy.

I agree, my neighbor has those and there great all season tires.
Continental ContiExtremeContact, ranked 3 out of 17 tires in Ultra High Performance All-Season Tires
Ultra High Performance All-Season Tire Rankings
Road test performed on the Continental Tires

Two other ones to consider:
BFGoodrich's Traction T/A V, ranked 3 out of 22 tires in High Performance All-Season Tires
High Performance All-Season Tire Rankings
Road test performed on the BFfgoodrich Tires
AND
Firestone Firehawk INDY 500 with UNI-T, ranked 1 out of 13 tires in Performance All-Season Tires
Performance All-Season Tire Rankings

I currently have Kumho HP4 716 195/60/15 tires on my civic and there a lot better then the OEM ones. My next set will be in size 205/55/15, and will go on my stock oem steel wheels.
I think my next set will be either the Continentals or BFGoodrich.

Also, going from 185/65/15 to 205/55/15 will only throw your tachometer off by 2.25%. So when your tachometer says your going 100, your really going 97.75 mph.

Just in case you might ask:
1.) You wont need a new alignment for the new size tires.
2.) Different tires will only affect your tachometer.
3.) They will add more miles to your car by 2.4%. (negligable in my opinion)

Pricing for the tires above is:
$66 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500
$72 Continental ContiExtremeContact
$78 BFGoodrich Traction T/A V

I currently have 195/60/15. Get 205/55/15. You'll feel improved braking due to a bigger footprint of your tire to the road, and your cornering ability will also increase. My braking impoved after I went from 185/65/15 stock tires to the 196/60/15 Kumho Hp4 tires. Once I go to 205/55/15 they will increase in braking and cornering ability even more. You might have a slight loss in miles per gallon though because you will have more rolling resistance due to the bigger footprint of your tire touching the road.

The reason I'm going 205/55/15 instead of 205/60/15 is because I want a lower profile tire to allow for less roll in the tire.

The reason I'm going 205/55/15 instead of 195/60/15 is because I want a bigger footprint on the road.

Hope this helped.

Another thing, those Firestone you have are the 690 model found here. There not the same Firestone model I showed above.

I wish tirerack would add the Falken 512s to there site so we would have a place to place ratings on them and compare to the other tires I posted above. Other websites have ratings but not enough. When only 5 people plaves reviews on a tire, a ratings can be severly driven off of 1 persons rakings.

If your willing to spend that type of money, maybe also look at the following tire.
Bridgestone Turanza LS-V

Heres a Comparison of the two

The bridgestone will last 40,000 miles while the BFGoodrich last 60,000 miles.

Overall, it looks like the Bridgestone are ranked higher in just about everything except treadwear life.

The Bridgestone are $164 more for all 4 ($41 more for each tire then the BFGoodrich).

that BFgoodrich is quite tempting...however, it's quite expensive...right?

moreover, they don't have the size of 215/45/R17...

$78 is not a bad price. Its about normal for a tire in that size.

This link shows prices for other BFGoodrich sizes.

I'm considering Bridgestone Potenza RE950s 195/60/15 for my steelies, ~$90 each Installed at Costco. They're supposed to be softer than the Ziex 512s but with a stiffer sidewall, and a softer inner compound that is exposed as the tire wears. Seems like better dry/wet traction than Ziex 512s but less snow traction.

Try this

Comparison of 3 Tires:
  1. Continental ContiExtremeContact
  2. Pirelli PZero Nero M&S
  3. Bridgestone Potenza RE950

I would suggest the Pirelli's for $116. There supposedly one of the best all season tire.

$95 245/45ZR17 Falken ZE-512 ZIEX

I heard Falken 512s are nice. Dont know how they compare to the pirellis though. The pirellis are the best tire on tirerack in the Ultra High Performance All-Season Tires Category

Get the BFGoodrich Traction T/A H instead.
The BFGoodrich rank higher in every category. Also, by the time there installed, its about the same price. It might be even cheaper.

Heres a comparison of the RE950s and the BFGoodrich tire:

^Thanks, I'll definetly look into those. I just started looking into what I'm going to replace these Crapstones with, so I'm by no means decided. I'm looking for something with a stiffer sidewall, either 195/60 or 205/60, better dry and wet traction, decent treadwear (+30k), basically better than the Firestones in every category other than MPG.
My only complaint with Tirerack's reviews are that even though there are many, usually there are still retarded reviews by retarded people that skew the ratings (i.e. these summer tires suck in the snow so it's a crappy tire). So, if ratings are close between a few tires I find it neglible.
Thanks for the info and any other that you find.
