Is this a stupid tire setup?

I got this dumb idea a short while back and I wanna know just how retarded it is or if it actually makes any sense. We all know that the stock Civic has a pretty snug front wheel well but the back has all this extra room and looks plain and empty (in general) on the 2dr.
Without lowering the car (I'll see if it needs to be later), my idea was to get something like 17 inch rims but plus the rear tire by one size. Now because it's a FWD this won't effect the meter readings.
The only side-effect I could think of is being like half an inch higher in the back and taking brake dives. A few people have told me nothing except it will severely effect handling, didn't even say if it would be for the better or worse.
Opinions?

I think it'd look pretty silly on a civic, but that's only my opinion. It's do-able and it wouldn't adversely affect your handling or anything. I just think plunking down the extra cash for 18s isn't worth it - better off getting Eibach prokit springs to get a ~1" drop...
when i had both sets of my rims (18 inch arceo rims and 17 inch AR rims) i was changing out the 17's for the 18's in my garage. i ended up putting the two 18's on the back while leaving the 17's on the front. even though they were two different styles of rims it still looked pretty cool. but i didn't drive anywhere with it like that i just went ahead and put the other two 18's on. even though it looked alright i wouldn't do it.
IMO i think it would be dumb.... not sure though... just drop it... and if you cant drop it now... just wait till you can... Thats where i am at right now. I NEED TO AND WANT TO put some full coilovers on it.. but cant because of the warrante... but do what ya want.

Well much thanks for all the feedback on this, I've decided to can the idea. Like I said it was just a dumb idea.
It's pretty much mandatory to lower your car to solve the wheelwell spacing problem. I'll get the rims, see what she looks like, and then probably lower her.
Heh, now I just need to decide between 17" or 18" cuz sometimes 18" look too big and sometimes 17" look too small and this all completely depends on which rims.
