Tire Pressure
I normally set my stock tires at 30psi. I just went to the shop, and they told me that with modern cars, they usually set the tire pressure at 40psi.
This could be the solution to my somewhat low gas mileage average of 26mpg.
Thought that you guys should know this, so you could adjust your tire pressure accordingly.

Tire pressure is determined by veichle weight. so Psi Varies from car to car.
On the drivers side Door frame, there will be a sticker that tells you what Psi to run the tires at, based on the cars weight. I believe its 30 Front and 30 Rear for our civics. bump 1 to 2 psi per wheel sized increase. (for 17s run 32-34)

^^ agreed.
over inflating will NOT increase your gas mileage. "Overinflated tires can make your car ride more harshly, are more prone to damage from road hazards, and wear unevenly." pg. 241 on the manual.
Improper inflated tires can cause a crash.

Hers a few articles to help explain it a bit more
Air Pressure
Air Pressure Vs Dry performance
air pressure Vs Wet performance
Air pressure for Compititon (this is for Autocross and track days, not drag racing)

40 psi sounds too high ... you're gonna wear out the middle of your tires real fast at this pressure. Not to mention having a super harsh ride and probably less control of your car.

Actually putting the stock firestones up to 40psi, is good times, they turn in very nicely, and don't roll over, when they're down at 30, they suck, I drove mine at about 36-37F/32R, and they had mostly uniform treadwear, though they wore out in 20k miles cause of hard driving.
will, its a matter of preference
i canyon run and road race with my azenis(205/50/15) at 38 psi(hot)
i road raced my civic with stock firestones before at they seem to
work best at 34 psi(hot)
