performance related to rim size
performance related to rim size
I got a question. As the rims size increases from 15" to a 16", how much performance do u lose? like 0-60 wise? (0.1 sec?) Does it lose any period? does it stay the same? or does a lighter/same weight 16" rim over a 15" rim give better peformance?

Not sure that you'll actually be able to notice it with your Butt dyno, but I do know that there is an emense difference in performance when I switch from my Street 17's to my race 15's....
the Idea is that if you want to go fast you should....
run the smallest possible wheel diameter that will fit around your brakes
and run the widest possible wheel width that will fit without rubbing the uprights and not completely destroy your wheel bearings.
also, get the widest/shortest/stickyist tire you can find.

I've heard even with lightweight 17s, you'll still lose some acceleration even if they weigh somewhat less than a 15 given a larger wheel still takes more energy to rotate.
From what I've read, 16s is the compromise size between a 15 and a 17 in terms of looks and performance. I think there would probably already be some easy answer for it if more people actually ran 16 inch wheels.

mostly it depends on the grip of the tires, but you can think of it this way the side wall is like a rubber band it it stretches then releases the less side wall the less it will give so the tires will slip instead of grip when you are trying to launch. but you are only better off with drag radial because low profile tires are much wider so it's better grip.

Here's the skinny.
I've got 17's that weigh 15 lbs.
I've got 15's that weigh 16 1/2 lbs.
15s still feel faster. Don't forget that bigger tires also weigh a little more, and it concentrates more weight in a smaller area (low profile) AND farther out from the center vs a 15" tire. So you have everything working against you inertia wise. If you wanna go fast, stick to 15's or superlight 16s (like 11 lbs)
