Question Michelin HydroEdge

Anyone out there riding on the new Michelin Hydroedge? If so I would be very interested in your opinion of this tire. I am also considering the Michelin Harmony, and X one. I need to buy new tires in the next 2 or 3 days - I still have the stock Firestones but have been told by my Honda Service Manager, after several flats, that they should be replaced (30000 miles of wear).
Thanks!

The factory fit Firestone tires are a disgrace! In the wet they make the car feel unstable and in the snow they offer next to no grip. To save some money I kept them on the car for 25,000 miles, and by that time I had decided that the car just was not safe. In fact, I thought that the Civic was poorly designed and would always feel to light and unsafe in bad weather. I was going to change to something bigger, but for $ reasons I eventually just changed the tires. I went to the local fast fit outfit and they showed me a chart taken from the Tirerack web site, which ranked all the major all season tires. No surprise to see the Firestone tires fitted to the Civic come at the bottom of the list! Think about it, the maker of some of the best cars in the world decide to fit north America's worst tire to their big seller. Anyway, I don't know anything about the Hydroedge tire, but I can recommend the Michelin Harmony tire. It came top of the Tirerack list and it has made my Civic quieter, smoother riding and far more stable. It feels like a new car. We have snow on the roads around here and I can't believe how much control these new tires provide.

Thanks for your comments Leshan. I did end up buying the Michelin Hydroedge and I am pleased with them in all respects except for road noise. I probably should have purchased the Harmonys instead.

Harmony

I just put on the harmony tires onto my 2003 civic, and i find they pull to the right after 6 wheel allignment. It only pulls as I accel, when maintaining a speed its fine. Do you notice this problem, if not do you know what it could be?

I haven't noticed the car pulling to the right on acceleration. My Civic is a 2002 DX-G with the standard engine. Since you live in Toronto, you will have had lots of snow and ice to contend with lately, and I wonder if your problem will go away once the road is dry? I know front wheel drive can cause, 'torque steer,' where the steering pulls to one side if traction isn't the same for each driven wheel.

Harmony

It will still pull even when its bone dry. Before If im is a stoped position and I accel I could take my hands off the wheel and it would drive in straight line now everytime I accel I need to tun the wheel to the left, I took it to honda and they stated its the nature of the car.

I don't think they make the X-One anymore. In fact I think that is the Harmony.

Hydroedge is a really good tire, and you'll definately feel a difference. Actually, over your FireCraps anything Michelin will be a huge improvement.

I'm pretty partial to Michelins. I have Exalto's on my Vic for summers and they're amazing.

My old man works for Michelin too which don't hurt...

The Hydroedge is the replacement for the X-One. My wife has the X-Ones on her Odyssey and they seem to be a very nice tire. No experience with the new Hydroedge but if they're similar to the X-Ones they should be very soft riding and have great wet traction.
