(First post - sorry if this is in the wrong place)

I just bought a 2022 Civic LX. My phone, a Moto G Power, doesn't play nicely with my car at all. Which sucks because I want to use my phone to send audio to the car's system, but can't because I need nav (I work for Uber Eats).

[edit: just for reference, the phone/Android Auto play fine with the car, until it doesn't; then it starts restarting all my apps over and over, including Musicolet and Uber Driver]

So I'm looking for a dedicated audio device. I thought about buying a new phone, but that would kind of an expensive crap shoot (there's no guarantee a new phone will play any nicer with my car).

I see plenty of MP3 players for under $50. I'm hoping someone here can speak from experience and recommend one that they know for sure works with a 2022 Civic with no problems. One that has an SD or microSD slot. And has decent ability to create playlists without too much trouble (e.g., I like Musicolet (Android App) a lot; I can just navigate to a folder on my phone and add all of its contents to a playlist. I like this workflow because I do most of my music "editing" (creating and exporting playlists and folders full of mp3s, mostly) on my Windows PC.)

Had similar problems with Android Auto. Dealer suggested to use the OEM phone cable instead of a 3rd party. It worked for me- only the occasional problem; far fewer than before.

I am picking up my LX on Wednesday.

I use the iPhone 8 Plus, which works fantastic with the Apple Car Play on the Odyssey I have.

I steer away from Android due to the fragmentation risk of support you get with the plethora of Android phone manufacturers.

odd fact is that the Honda radio in the odyssey is actually Android itself, and plays old school MIDI files from the USB (GM and XG).

I will update once I have settled in.

If you recently updated Google app or Android auto, you might have to manually click through some permissions (again) to get it to work properly.
