2022 CIVIC Touring Siri Button on Steering Wheel

Okay, I've had my car for 5 days and I cannot initiate a voice activated hands-free call, text or simply ask Siri a question. It is really frustrating as I'm on vacation in a city out on Long Island near Jones Beach and I need directions. Called the dealer and expressed my frustration. The phone is successfully paired and AppleCarplay works fine-I can receive text messages and respond using the button on the steering wheel and Siri I just can't initiate. I traded in a 2020 Civic EX-L. The button was simply for Siri. This version you can roll the button and choose Sirius, Apple Carplay, phone, AM, FM etc to switch which is great but the fact I can't use it for Siri makes me furious. I drove to Honda City in Bethpage, they said I would have to leave the car for at least a day and someone would have to pick me up. That's not an option. I'm out here until until 7/18. I have paired, unpaired, Hondalink app is working fine other this is problem which is huge as I have my own business and often need to make calls while I'm driving. Anyone have any idea what to do? Thanks in advance. I even called in car support and they opened a case not knowing either.

Only things I can suggest.

make sure phone is on latest iOS.
make sure radio is updated
try another phone and see if helps.

Also it could be a setting on the phone under Siri or privacy as initiating Siri from another source besides the phone could cause a security risk.

I know in my TSX you have to manually input contacts into the car in order to be able to initiate voice-activated commands (text or call). Perhaps this is the same?

Bought the car to a Honda dealer where I am on vacation and the problem has been fixed! Thanks for all your feedback.

Does anyone who has this car have this happen? : when the air conditioning is on high and you use SIRI the air condition seems to go on low until done with SIRI?

Probably to reduce background noise.

Makes sense, thanks for the reply. The way things started off with this car, I'm just a bit skeptical.

Fair enough. When I’m using hands-free in my TSX with the AC on, people have difficulty hearing me. I’m guessing that would be why and that’s Honda’s way of fixing it.
