2006 Civic AC Problem

I have a 2006 Civic EX 5speed and the ac compressor keeps cycling every 5-10 seconds. I have replaced everything from the condensor to the evap core, pulled vacuum, added PAG oil according to specs and added freon accord to specs and the ac compressor and both fans still keep cycling every 5-10 seconds. Even if the climate control is off, the compressor and rad fans still cycle every 5-10 seconds. Any input greatly appreciated.

Following AC components have been replaced:
New Compressor (replaced 3x)
New condensor and dryer
New evap coil
New expansion valve (replaced 2x)
New pressure switch
New high and low side pressure hoses

I know the compressors on this generation failed constantly.

Pretty much all ac components have been replaced with new components from the condensor all the way to the evap coil.

Re: 2006 Civic AC Problem

Cycling on/off is normal so the evaporator doesn't freeze up. It's not supposed to do that with the A/C off though. Are you having HVAC performance issues?

I don't think its suppose to cycle on and off like that, and it is not blowing cold at all. Doesn't give the compressor enough time to pump freon thru the system at all.

Re: 2006 Civic AC Problem

Could be the low pressure switch kicking it off. Use a set of manifold gauges to read low/high side pressure while the compressor is cycling.

Head pressure is good.....why would the fans and compressor constantly cycle every few seconds with the engine ar idle and climate control completely off.

What pressures did you read?

As soon as I get readings from low and high side I'll post them.....Im trying to figure out why system keeps cycling when climate control is off. Bad readings shouldnt cause this....

Re: 2006 Civic AC Problem

If you just have the A/C turned off it can still come on when in defrost mode. If you have the entire HVAC system turned off (no interior fan) then it should not be cycling.

If you're seeing the later, you'd have to start troubleshooting the compressor power circuit. It would be getting power from somewhere it shouldn't.

yea the entire system is havc system is off and no air is blowing in the cabin but as long as the engine is idling, the compressor amd fans keep cycling every 5 secs. Im leaning towards a faulty ecu.
