AC goes kaput

Hi everyone. I have a 2009 Civic. In the mornings, the AC works great and I drive to work. When I come out and start heading home, the AC works for a few minutes, then stops blowing cold air. The compressor was flushed recently, but that didn't fix the issue. Anyone have any idea where I can begin to look?

Thanks!
D

Re: AC goes kaput

There are many possible reasons. If you want to determine a correct answer, it's gonna take some investigation on your part.

When it quits blowing cold, is the compressor clutch still engaged? Or not?
Do the fans still kick on when the AC button is engaged? Or not?

Does it already have the updated clutch relay installed, or not?

Thanks for the response!

The fans still kick on. How can I check if the compressor clutch is still engaged?

I was in an accident last year and the body shop mentioned the AC had some sort of a charger that they had to replace so was thinking that might be it, but am unsure where to look for that or how to test it.

Has it been inoperative ever since the bodyshop work? Take it back. And contact your insurance company.

The compressor was flushed recently, but that didn't fix the issue.
Take it back to whomever has been working on it because they haven't fixed it yet.

The compressor was flushed recently, but that didn't fix the issue.

some sort of a charger
I have no idea what either of these are referring to.

Visual.

In operation, this one is cycling on and off

Then, on to figuring out if it is still getting powered up when it quits, and so forth.
Got volt/ohm meter? Do you know how to backprobe a connection?
