I have 270 miles to go until my warranty is kaput. I have this high pitched squealing like a bearing or belt coming from the engine bay. I can hear it at idle, or while moving, it never changes pitch or anything unless I press the clutch. Just the slightest press and the sound goes away. Throwout bearing? I don't know. I do know that the clutch is not original. It was replaced about 1K miles ago under warranty. I'm also having them fix this popping noise coming from my driver's seat. What do you think?

Does NOT change pitch, but goes away as soon as you touch the clutch?

You got me. The bearing, or any rotating part on the engine/trans will change pitch when you speed up he engine. But if it DOESN'T.... I have NO clue.

Something like that happened to me, found out that my prop rod wasn't fastened and was resting somewhere in my engine bay.

Could it be that the problem is coming from your non-original clutch? I think that is the clutch bearing and looks like you're on your way for a complete clutch overhaul.

Well, the dealer replaced my throwout bearing again. The whole assembly was done 4K miles ago. On the service paper they gave me I noticed they wrote that there is already marks on the pressure plate due to customer racing. I asked about this I the service manager told me that this was the last time they will do any warranty work on my clutch. I told him I do not race and that he cannot prove I do. He simply shrugged and said that this kind of wear shouldnt be happening at only 4K miles after the new clutch was replaced. I agreed and said maybe they should search for the cause of this. He said the cause was stated in my papers. I shouldnt race. I again reminded him I do not. I told him about other Civic owners and their problems with weak clutches and he simply said he's never heard of such a thing. Well, I only have 100 miles to go until my warranty is up so anything that happens with it will be my problem anyways. Oh yeah I forgot. After they did the job, my squeaky clutch problem is back. BASTARDS! They fix one thing and ****up another. I guess I need to find the thread on where to lubricate it. I'm dont venting now. God damn dealerships.
