Weird Sound Civic IX 1.8 iVtec
Weird Sound Civic IX 1.8 iVtec
Hello everyone.
I own a 9th gen Civic sedan 1.8 and so far it's been an awesome car.
The only "problem" if i can call it like that happens usually when i start the car a couple of hours after a previous start.
The scenario would be like that:
I start my car in the morning, no problem, no weird stuff just ordinary around 1300 rpm till it eventually starts getting warmer and it drops. Totally normal.
I come home and then, if i want to use the car again let's say after a couple of hours when the engine it's still kind of warm from the previous run, i would get a loud weird noise which from my noob pov isn't really coming from the engine, but from under the car or exhaust(but then again, i might be wrong). Let's say i start the car, it sits around 1200rpm, then i get this noise for around 5 seconds and then The rpm starts dropping to around 1k rpm. It's like when the sound occurs, something makes the engine get warmer faster.
If i don't start the car for around 4-6 hours after the previous run, it will start totally normal with no weird sound whatsoever.
Sorry for any gramatical mistakes.
Thank you very much!

Sorry for the late respinse.
I'll post a video, unfortunately the sound in real life is way louder than it is in this recording.
You can hear it after i start the engine

Sorry for the late response.
I've tried to post it 2 days ago but I received a message to wait for approbation and nothing changed since then.

Unfortunately, the sound is no way as loud as it is in real life, but i hope you can hear it.
After i start the engine, the sound appears, then the rpm starts dropping and everything sounds normal.

I didn’t hear any audio but it could be because I’m on a Phone.
What kinda sound? Squeal? Thud? Scrapping? Whining? Does it change with the sound of the engine? Get louder with the engine RPM’s?

Re: Weird Sound Civic IX 1.8 iVtec
The sound is definetly not squeaky or whining, it's close to the sound of high rpms.
It appears only if i start the car a couple of hours later after i used it and the sound somehow makes the rpms get lower.
It's like that : start the engine, goes to 1.3k rpms because its still cold, then comes this loud noise for around 5 seconds followed by the rpm getting lower to about 1 to 1.1k rpms, and then everyhing is fine.
If i drive the car, let it sit for half an hour i dont get any noise as the engine is still pretty warm. If i let the car sit for around 5 hours, the engine is completely cold and dont get any noise.
The engine sounds normal and it doesn't affect how it drives.

Sorry for the link, i hope this one works

I didn't check under the hood yet but i went outside the car and i didnt hear any weird sound , i'll try with it open as well.
I asked some guys on YouTube about that and one of them replied that he had a noise coming from the air filter which was kind of loose and had to put some rubber to stop it vibrating. Do you think it could come from here?

could be anything, you will need to at least get under the hood. Like i said, i had a zip tie get in the way of a fan.
If you lock your mind in the air filter, you might not notice that there is a rat inside the air filter box
you will need to look it by yourself, we can't see it
