Victory X turbo kit..
I know the boost pressure for these Victory X turbo kits came in at about 7 or 8 PSI. I was wondering if there was any way to get more boost pressure out of this kit? Anyone have any experience with them?
thank you for your help

erm.. got a link? I've never heard of them before. usually it's a wastegate thing, but without knowing what kinda turbo (internal/external wastegate, size, etc.) Can't give you any good answer

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
Ah, edelbrock's stuff. Haven't looked much into edelbrock because I started modding life with a D17
Assuming that the information I found on the victor x is correct and it's built around a Garrett GT28RS snail (which is internally wastegated), they're allegedly rated to 1.4-1.6BAR (20.5-23.5psi). I don't think I've ever seen a screw-adjusting wastegate; every one I've seen uses some sort of diaphragm operated valve that senses from the turbo compressor outlet and uses that to open/close the exhaust dump valve. Boost controller, maybe, but even then, you should be able to go through the full range of boost. The link you sent me was to an intake manifold, which kinda makes me think you were messing with the IACV.
If you can take pics of your actual setup, might be able to help and show what the turbo looks like and what you're dusting, we might be able to help

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
Just making sure. We've definitely had people refer to the wrong part they're tinkering with. I have enough turbo experience to know what I'm talking about.
Also, if my post(s) seem on the remedial side, I post assuming everyone knows nothing, just in case 1) the poster is inexperienced and needs a nudge in the right direction or 2) someone later down the line stumbles upon this post is actually inexperienced

I understand and appreciate you making sure I understand what I'm talking about. Again thank you for the help I probably don't know how to get a picture on here LOL so that I may need your help with I do see the attached file icon on the top but I know some forums have size limits and that is where I will fail LOL

I haven't run into any size limits here. Alternatively, upload to imgur (or similar) and post the photo link (that ends in .jpg) between [img] [/img] tags (in that empty space between the bracketed commands)

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
Not very clear but as you can see there is a thin steel line that runs to the wastegate if it is turned I believe it can shorten or lengthen office steel rods. Thank you for your help

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
Yep, internal wastegate, for sure. Vacuum line going to the wastegate actuator. Where's that connecting to?

Intake mani.
I have a boost gauge on the dash but not sure if it is very reliable or not it usually reads between 7 and 8 PSI when I feel fullboost is on. Which is what I believe the reviews said that this turbo would give if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
the red vacuum line runs to the mani. From the blow off valve.
so only way to increase boost is to....get a different turbo?
thank you for the help.

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
Just to get a better idea of what components you have, any way you can give us what the embossed markings on the compressor housing read? Usually stamped with turbo make, maybe the model, a/r. A bit harder to get (but more informative) would be the nameplate on the turbo. Might be riveted somewhere, possibly on the CHRA or the compressor housing. If yours has one, it'd have the turbo make, part number, serial number, and more likely to have the turbo model number.

this is the link to the turbo kits I have. I will try to get a picture to make sure it is correct when I get home. Doing more reviews of the two kids it seems I should have went for the performer intake instead of the victory X due to the power range being better suited for my car

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
D-series kits get the GT28R, a slightly toned-down version of the RS, which instead has a slightly smaller 60 trim wheel but equal 60 A/R on the compressor side, and a turbine side with a 62 trim wheel and .64 A/R. Both turbos are internally wastegated and are good for a maximum of around 15 to 18 psi
Should be able to get plenty boost out of that snail

Re: Victory X turbo kit..
Going guess my boost gauge is readuing incorrect then as it has only ever read a max of 8psi.
and thinking of changing my intake mani. According to that review I would rather the power come on at 5-7 thousand rpm, instead of 7-10.
