Unresponsive temp dial

I have a 2005 Honda civic DX and the temperature dial on my climate control is fully unresponsive. It use to get 'stuck' on a warmer setting if I turned it 3 notches away from coldest, it use to be fixed by turning it much warmer than putting the dial immediately back to the coldest setting. Now the temperature dial no longer responds in any way, however the fan intensity and the directional dial work perfectly fine. For a little bit I had issues with the engine overheating, it was during one of those episodes that it stopped working. We have since fixed the overheating issue as we discovered there was a blockage in the coolant reservoir. As far as the climate control, we have replaced the climate control panel to see if that would fix the problem, we also check the refrigerant level and even filled it up a little more again but there was no change. I also checked the fuses under the hood (I haven't gotten to the ones under the dashboard just yet.)

I'm not sure what else could be the problem and it's a bit to warm to keep going without AC. It used to get so cool it would make my fingers hurt from the cold.

The air blend door might be getting jammed. Or the actuator has failed.

Keep an eye on coolant levels in the radiator/reservoir. Bad head gaskets are very common. This usually causes coolant to backup in the reservoir while emptying the radiator.

I'm definitely keeping an eye on everything. So far it's been good since we got rid of the blockage in the reservoir. As far as the blend door,b would that cause just the temperature to not be able to be controlled? Everything else as far as my climate control works fine I just can't make it hotter or colder it just blows usually a little bit warmer than what the outside temperature is.

The air blend door/actuator determine what temperature the air coming out the vents is, that's why I suggested it. If it's failing, it won't be able to get the correct temperature based on the controls.

So I was finally able to get into it and replaced the actuator, the old one was sticking a good bit. I now have control over the temp, however, it's still not getting cold. It gets cool, warm, and hot. But it still can't seem to actually get cold. My next thought was the air filters the AC is pushed through. My plan was to change those and check my freon again but I'm not sure if thats actually the problem.
