Question Ac compressor harness wiring? Help.

TLDR version: 2004 civic LX. New reman ac compressor has 3 red wires, one marked with a ziptie, no harness. How do I connect it to the old harness? (two blue wires, one red)

Hello and thank you for having me on this forum. I have an issue on my 2004 Civic LX. I bought a replacement alternator off of ebay that's remanufactured. I removed the old one and it has a harness. The new one does not have a harness, only 3 wires that are all coated in red plastic with a crush/crimp on the end. One of the wires had a zip tie around it. So I studied the old harness, saw it has one wire going from the actual clutch that was red and two blue wires connecting to the harness. I figured on the new compressor it may be a similiar setup, so I connected the old harness to the wires on the new compressor in the same manner. Well after getting everything back installed, moment of truth and my ac compressor isn't coming on. I got everything back together, I feel like a damned fool. I am in need of some help. Thanks in advance.

Assuming you meant A/C compressor? Is the system fully charged? Does the car side have three wires in the connector or just one?

Re: Ac compressor harness wiring? Help.

My apologies, yes it was a reman compressor, I was tired as hell last night typing that. I couldn't charge the system because the compressor wasn't engaging and sucking the refrigerant in. There are 3 wires that go into the connector two blue ones and one red one. The red one comes from the clutch, the other two from that little thermal protector area.

Re: Ac compressor harness wiring? Help.

You should have a blue/red wire on the car side. Take whichever wire on the compressor goes to the clutch (red?) and connect it to the blue/red wire on the car side. It doesn't matter which wire you connect to for the remaining two (just one on each).

If this doesn't get the compressor running you will need to start circuit troubleshooting. There is a low pressure switch to prevent the compressor running without ~28 psi. The can of refrigerant provides enough to get the compressor on.
