04 Civic A/C problem

My 2004 Civic VP has a AC problem. The compressor clutch engages and disengages normally, but never kicks on or cycles. Both fans come on,but doesn't cool. The low side line isn't getting cold and the high side line isn't getting hot. I grabbed a can of 134a with a quick charge dispenser. The system isn't accepting any refrigerant, and is reading in the "green zone".

We had a pretty good cold spell a couple of weeks ago and I accidentally kicked on the AC switch when I was reaching in to warm up the car. I heard a little chatter from under the hood from what I figured was probably the compressor, but didn't investigate. It was just too damn cold. Believe it or not, I was a Honda tech for several years, but changed careers about 10 years ago. I'm a little rusty and don't have access to gauges. I always had access to an evac and recovery machine at the shop and never had to charge via cans or manifold gauges. I'm pretty sure the compressor has failed, but wanted thoughts before I bite the bullet on one.

Is the compressor clutch engaging/spinning or not? I'm confused what you're trying to say here.

Sorry yes the clutch works properly, but it isn’t cycling on and off.

So it stays on the whole time but you don't get any cool air? I have to ask, are you sure the compressor/pulley is actually spinning and not just the clutch on the outside?

Re: 04 Civic A/C problem

Update…compressor started locking up yesterday. Put a compressor on last night. Luckily no Black Death, but I did throw on a receiver drier too.
