A/C Pulley Bearing Replacement

I got a new bearing for A/C pulley and after many difficulties here are my recommendations:

Don't buy just the bearing. (It costs $15 shipped and for $30 you can get a new pulley with bearing installed, clutch plate, coil magnet, + hardware including shims, nut, snap rings)

Borrow clutch plate holding tool(I didn't and stripped the nut + spent hours dremeling it off) https://www.autozone.com/loan-a-tool...h-holding-tool

Use clutch pulley puller -or- 3 jaw puller to remove pulley(i wasted time trying to pry it and puller took it right off)

What I did was try to remove the clutch plate nut (outer nut) WITHOUT borrowing the proper tool which allows you to hold the clutch plate so it doesn't move while loosening the nut. Because I watched videos of guys who used a screwdriver or flat bar to hold it from turning and yep tried it myself and stripped the nut! Then instead of going to get that proper tool I tried again using a stripped nut socket and completely messed up the nut. So then I was left trying to dremel it off without destroying the shaft threads and after a few hours I managed to cut away at it and got it off but not without doing a little damage to shaft threads which still appear usable, luckily.

Next, I tried in vain trying to pry the pulley off and got nowhere. A trip to Autozone got me the 3-jaw puller and super easy to get the pulley off.

Then I banged out the old bearing and hammered the new one in using the old one and damaged both bearings beyond use. Apparently you don't want to do that and instead use a large socket slightly smaller than the outside diameter of new bearing and only bang on the outer metal edge of bearing evenly. Otherwise you risk destroying it like i did. Also use some grease so it goes in easier.

But like mentioned for $30 shipped you can get new components and wish I had done that first. Because my clutch plate surface is rusting and pulley surface isn't that great either. Plus you get the new pulley with bearing already installed!

Hope this helps!
