Won't crank [solved]
Won't crank [solved]
I got the car and replaced the transmission since it was popping out of 5th gear. i only drove it twice once after replacing the tranny to confirm it works and didn't pop out of gear. then once i drove it to the gas station so i could change the oil. after I changed the oil, it doesn't crank anymore. i did put a size 26 battery in it before i went to go to the gas station and warm up the oil. i had too much trouble with the battery that came with it cuz it didnt sound like it was really cranking until i put the new battery in it. there is a ground on the negative cable and the thermostat housing. is there any more i can check and clean? i just hear a click from somewhere near the motor mount but i can't figure out where its coming from. i hope i didnt break the starter for using a different battery. i ordered a battery from costco but waiting for them to get it so thought i would use the other one until then. the battery holds 12.8 volts fine

nothing to do with engine performance modifications. Moving to mechanical issues instead
check if during the trans replacement some of the grounds were not knocked out of place. there are 3.
check if the battery terminals are properly connected.
check if the fuses are not burnt
check if starter connections are good.

i Brought the starter to an autoparts store to check and its good. i tried both the old battery and the new one but a click only with both and i put the old starter in it this morning so i got just got the newer starter checked. I forgot to grab battery terminals but will tomorrow. When i checked the voltage to the starter it says 12.5 and thats with the key turned or not

The dealer told me if it's the immobilizer, good luck. He repaired one, it cost around $1,200, and it took almost two months to get all of the parts custom made. He said it could ALSO be the key. Which costs $300 w/labor to reprogram. Is this true? What are the chance of it being the key vs. the other components?
