POP then nothing [solved]

I just discovered this forum so thanks for letting me in. I have a 2003 Civic, 1.7 vtec, no mods, daily commuter. Got in it this morning, turned the ignition and heard a pop. Motor did not turn over, no dead battery click, no nothin. Interior lights worked, door dinger worked but I did not turn on headlights. After several turns of the key. the dashboard started flashing like a christmas tree and I could hear a clicking or whirring sound from the dashboard, kinda on the passenger side. What would cause something like that? Any advice would be helpful. I had thought starter but I had no bad or slow starts previously. its got me stumped right now.

Also check the relays behind the glove compartment. When there's clicking in that area, there's three relays that are usually the culprit.

THAT sounds like a real possibility. Thanks.

Finally got around to working on it. Battery tested bad so I replaced it. Sticker on side said 2014 so it was past time. I have only had the car a year so it was before me. Cranked and ran fine with no issues, of course I had to reset the radio but oh well. Took everything to a shop had them look at the battery. Ricky said two cells in the battery were bad. This was making the battery both charge and discharge and causing my dash lights to flash. Yep, my battery blew up.
