2003 civic problem HELP PLEASE

Hey everyone hope all is well. I am hoping someone might be able to help me with this problem. My grandson has a 2003 civic I believe there is around 205k on it we baught it a few months ago before he got his license and he is now a licensed driver. Just wanted to tell this because this is the reason we really don't know the history of the car or anything that has been done to it so can't answer any questions about it's past. That being said. Here is what we have done. Engine light was on for Crank shaft sensor so we replaced that and now engine light is not coming on anymore and we have scanned it a few times since just to check for pending codes and nothing. Installed new fuel pump car seemed to have better power and runs great down the road. This is the VTech engine. The problem we can't figure out is that there are times it starts right up and then it drives and it could be just a couple miles and after it's shut down it will crank but not start. Then sit for a little while and then restart. Sometimes in the morning go to Start and it won't then go back out a few minutes later and it starts. This happens at all times of the day so not a cold start issue. Like I said no engine light on so it's frustrating trying to figure it out. Any help is appreciated.

It was purchased at O'Riley auto parts so I would guess it's not OEM. So the sensor would make the engine light stay off but not work correctly ?

Re: 2003 civic problem HELP PLEASE

Ok everyone I tried installing new OEM sensor and still having problems. I am fairly certain it's not fuel related. I had it cranking and put a little spray to it and still not starting. Then after a few minutes sitting it started. Then turned it off and it wouldn't start again. Also it's having problems with not idling when at stop sign or in drive thru it will die

Yes and belt is good. Just disconnected battery for about 10 minutes and it's been starting. But who knows for how long. When it's running it runs great

My 2004 has a similar issue, but if I barely give it a little gas pedal while cranking it fires right up.
