98 civic lx help!

I've been having a problem with my civic. When I start my civic up for the first time of the day, pretty much when the engine is cold, it starts up perfect with no problems. When the engine is warm/hot and I start it up, it like struggles and the engine shakes about less than 10 seconds. Then after those seconds are up it runs fine. I have no problems driving around town, runs perfectly. It's just when I start it up when the engine is hot. Now if I let my car rest, it'll start up with no problems. Rarely when I'm idling at a light the engine would randomly shake ONLY when I'm holding the brake down though. Also my civic seems slow, like when I'm the first one at the light and it changes, everyone passes me. I don't know if it's because my civic is naturally slow or an acceleration problem, but the thing I'd like to get fixed is the start up issue.

Here's an example of my start up problem:
I start my car up for the first time of the day and start perfect. I drive on the freeway for about 15 minutes and go inside Walmart. I come back and start the car up and it struggles and shakes for a few seconds, after that it goes normal.

All the research I've been doing mostly says it could be caused by the spark plugs. I'm still new at the honda game which is why I'm on these forums. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it! Thank you

Re: 98 civic lx help!

I'd say to get a scantool that will give you live data from the PCM. Watch the ECT value, see what it does when the car runs bad.

Friday I fixed a 99 CRV that liked to flood itself after a 10 minute hot soak, it had a bad ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor. It read about 140 degrees too low for a few seconds after cranking. The engine didn't like it one bit.
