P0336 code

My '03 1.7 V-tech Civic died on me during a down pour. Towed to the house and found my crank position sensor and wire connector were bad. I exchanged both but still get a p0336 , cranks and idles but but won't exceed 3500 RPMs. Don't know where to go from here. I'm just a DIY guy so does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!

Re: P0336 code

My first guess would be to check timing. Sounds like your belt skipped teeth. You’re lucky that it’s still running.

Re: P0336 code

Totally read that as cam position. Disregard what I said.

It sounds like you’re in limp mode. If I’m not mistaken, low oil levels on the vtec engines cause limp mode to engage. That’s an easy first place to check.

Re: P0336 code

Just looking over videos on timing check...LOL. Are there any other causes of the limp mode?
