i bought a project. 2003 LX Coupe. the girl i bought it from hit a flat bed. do these cars have an inertia switch? all the damage appears cosmetic. hood, fenders, lights, and bumper need replaced. after the fact the keys went missing. i bought a new lock unit and door cylinders. the immo receiver is being reused. the new unit is wired and the engine cranks. i know i have to get the key setup for the ecu/immo unit in order for the fuel system to engage. PROBLEM!!! the fuel pump runs but no fuel to the head. i thought the fuel system was supposed to be completely disabled by the immo. also i have no spark. are the ignition coils tied to the immo? i have a chilton but ive never liked the wiring diagrams in chilton manual. i have found them to be incomplete and/or incorrect. help!!
Immobilizer only controls the fuel pump, not spark. Are you sure you hear the fuel pump running? If you aren't getting fuel to the engine that leads me to believe it isn't.
Does the green key symbol in the cluster flash while cranking? If you replaced the ignition switch and keys they have to be programmed by Honda before the immobilizer will let the car start.
If you have no spark for sure check fuse 20 (40 amp) in the under-hood fuse box and fuse 1 (15 amp) in the under-dash fuse box.
Thanks for the heads up. I will check the fuses again. Next question... Are the coils case grounded or are they only grounded through the harness. Yes immo key flashes. I already know that I have to get the keys programmed to start but until I can afford to do that I just want to investigate the ignition. I haven't been able to work on it this week yet but when I do, I'll check the fuel pump and find out if the pump is running.
