Starting issue

Hi All,

The cold weather has come to my town and my 2001 Civic is having trouble starting. I keep hearing a grinding sounds behind the dash (possible relay) and the vehicle will not start. I have documented it in the attached video

I can get it started after a few attempts as shown on the video. I have replaced one ground wire on the thermostat housing and it seems to be working.. dont know if this is a common thing or if its just dumb luck that this helped. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Starting issue

Good start on cleaning that wire.

I would suggest taking it back off and use some very fine (600 grit) sand paper on not just the ground wires but the parts of the car they bolt down too as well.

Get access to where the battery ground contacts the frame and remove and clean that wire as well.

Your video looks exactly like a power circuit that has correct voltage but not enough current for the starter motor.
