Transmission Issues
Okay so,
I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX Coupe (Automatic).
It has 186k miles on it, and its actually in pretty decent condition...
EXCEPT for the fact the other day, my civic decided it didn't want to shift.
I've check the fluid, no problems. The car just won't shift, it will keep revving higher and higher. The check engine light came on as soon as it started this. Before this problem, the car would slip in second gear...but now it won't even get there.
Anyone else have/had this problem and could give me some insight? I've heard that 1999-2004 civics are known for having serious transmission problems after 150k miles. I just don't know another civic owner who I can trade notes with. People have been telling me to just give up on the car, but I can't!! It's my baby <3
So, any information or advice about this would be very appreciated.

Re: Transmission Issues
Well, I figured that...
I just would like to know if its gonna be worth it though...
I mean, other than the transmission, the car runs beautifully.
The only other thing I have to get changed is my exhaust manifold because it has a crack in it.
I'm just sad because I don't want to get rid of my baby.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Transmission Issues
What is the car worth as it sits? Not much.
What is the car worth with a good trans? (KBB.com?)
How much will it cost to make it a decent car again?
Is it economically feasible?
Can you do any of the work yourself?
If you sink cash in it to fix it, you will probably keep driving it.
You never know what kind of headaches you are getting when you buy a used car.
I'd figure maybe 3k for a factory reman trans, installed. That's a guess, I really have no idea what the true cost would be.
Here. Read this. Substitute the word transmission for the word engine.
