I had to rebuild the engine and do repairs on the manual transmission on my 98 civic ex coupe..I replaced all bushings to poly.. after I re installed everything I noticed I can wiggle the shifter side to side but only an inch either way.. will not engage or disengage gears. If you try, you snap your shifter. Running it does the same thing. I don't have the CV shafts in or MTF (synchro) put in, but that shouldn't make the transmission not shift into or out of gear. I'm stuck in 3rd and clutch seems to work fine. I have no clue what to do.

If not, start testing what is already described here.

Figure out what went wrong with your bushing install.
