Fuel door won't open 1997 hatchback
Fuel door won't open 1997 hatchback
My 1997 haatchback has a problem with the fuel door. The lever isn't releasing the door. I checked the cable and it is still attached up by the driver's side. I saw in another forum that the cable connector at the fuel door can be turned 90 degrees to take out. But I can hardly get my hand around it, much less turn it. Any tips for how to get it out so I can at least open the fuel door? TIA
Re: Fuel door won't open 1997 hatchback
Thanks, Colin42! I did try pliers but it was just too tight a space. I was finally able to get it to turn and pop out, releasing the fuel door. I checked the cable which is working properly. The actual problem seems to be the latch on the door itself. I bent it back a bit to see if that worked, heard the metal crunch like it was going to break off. So I stopped. I'm not sure what the latch is supposed to look like normally; it looked a bit twisted to me. So I will have to mess with it some more when I have time.
