99 sedan civic not starting
Hey there
Short background- i bough my civic from my friend for scrap price. It had many problems but they're fixable like the gasket or broken exhaust.
But it doesn't start so i checked fuel and it's there, pump is working and you can smell gasoline from spark plug holes. Also checked for spark ,tho at first it seemed weird i decided to change the ignition coil both
with sparkplugs and it seems to have spark tho i have nothing to measure it with to be sure. Still doesn't run even spraying something like starter fluid won't revive it which leads me to some problems with the electronics
but i truly have no clue what might be wrong. Any ideas how to get it running?
Engine is d15z6, tried looking for obd2 but the connector isn't there so by checking the codes after shorting plug on the passanger side on check engine it shows 6-1 code which i found to be primary o2 sensor. Tho i don't think it's the problem.
This site is my last chance before saving up and going to a mechanic for overpriced fix although i want to fix it myself as it's my first bought car.

Re: 99 sedan civic not starting
It didn't have any cracks just the metal 'terminals?' seemed kinda dusty so i cleaned them with a wire brush.
Oh and the connections on old coil were rusted as hell i needed to pry one connector off the old one to actually keep the cable and get a new connector onto it for a new coil

Re: 99 sedan civic not starting
Timing is on point with the pointer and tdc, for ignition it was installed with the old angle and tried rotating it 180 degrees twice. When it's on tdc the distributor points at first piston. Seems right to me but I will check it again when I have time
Re: 99 sedan civic not starting
i've been digging up a bit more about the distributor and it seems it's something with the igniter or maybe something even further as it just randomly started , run for few second then died again. to be sure i checked the spark and it seems it lost it all.
after checking a bit with the testlight the ignition coil isn't getting grounded at all.
