Overheated to death

Okay, I'm here looking to see if it's worth fixing my bonus son's car, and if it's feasible. He got a 2000 Honda Civic for Christmas, from his aunt. He wasn't paying attention, and one day drive it hot, until the radiator cap melted, and the whole thing died. It won't even pretend to start. What is the most likely culprit? Thanks in advance!

Re: Overheated to death

what engine is in the car?
is the model Si or not?

if D-series engine, most common is head gasket.
can be:
  • thermostat
  • leak in coolant hoses or radiator
  • fan not working
  • leak inside engine (not common)
  • etc

Did it develop a rod knock? Engine might be seized and is now junk.

Re: Overheated to death

Like the above comment says, might’ve seized the thing solid. New engine is probable imo.
