Coolant problem/Overheating

Alright, so first, my car was overheating and coolant would always fill up the reservoir. but car started leaking coolant. assuming it was the radiator because it was pretty bad. i changed the radiator. after bleeding it for an hour or so, i drove it, and it was fine. the next day it wouldnt start. as i opened my radiator cap, the built up air pressure explodes. is it normal for the radiator to build up air pressure like that? because i would fill up my radiator, cap it, try to start my car, won't start, take off the cap and it explodes. my car sounds like its about to start, but it won't start. and yes i give it a little gas. jw, you guys have any ideas?

Re: Coolant problem/Overheating

Overheating caused head gasket leakage and/or head warpage, which causes excess pressure in radiator? And antifreeze is reaching the spark plugs and causing no-start?
Got compression?

If you just meant there was a lot of antifreeze that belched out when you opened the radiator cap, that alone isn't always alarming to me.
If you vent the pressure off the radiator, crank it over, then there's a bunch more pressure in the radiator, that's not right.
