My car isn't cranking over and I just put my manual transmission back in. Any common issues revolving around this?

Starter is working, its getting spark, and fuel gets to fuel rail. I haven't pulled the injectors yet

any help would be greatly appreciated

• when turning key, it clicks and nothing else
  • battery is low in charge
  • ground is not properly connected (battery connectors, engine ground, chassis ground, motor, etc)
  • rodents chew wires
  • Check relay
  • solenoid is not engaging (stuck)
    • get under the car and wack the motor to see if you can unstick it
    • if does not work, remove starter and inspect/test.
      • just put some 12V power in the poles and bench test
      • have seen some cases of gears losing teeth
• when turning key, high pitch noise
  • starter gear is not engaging with flywheel (yes, we saw cases)
  • have someone check if engine is turning when you try to start
  • remove starter and inspect/test it - see above

The engine is trying to turn over. It's like a hard start only it is not starting.

Firing order?
Are you sure you have spark?
You can check if the injectors are firing by holding a screwdriver to it while someone cranks it.
Compression?

Retrace your work and check if nothing forgotten.
Have you by chance messed with the clutch switch?
