What's the 2nd cable?
Good day we recently bought a 1997 Honda Civic LX with a d16y7 engine with automatic transmission. My question is why are there 2 cables attached to the throttle leve. One goes to the accelerator pedal and the other one goes to the automatic transaxle? I don't get it. Thank you everyone and Merry Christmas!

No ours doesn't have cruise control. The 2nd cable I think goes to the automatic transaxle. It's like a lever, when you press the accelerator pedal, that lever near the transaxle moves also.

Kickdown cable would be my guess since it goes to the trans
