Rebuilt engine not running cant fighter it out...
I have a 00' civic. D16y8 non vtech automatic. I had the engine rebuilt with performance eagle rods. New bearings. Had the head resurfaced. Also put in new:
- distributor
- spark plugs & wires
- fuel filter
- Fuel pump
- brake master cylinder
- timing belt kit
- radiator
- alternator good (had it checked)
- main relay
-ac kit
I took it for a test drive n floored it but didn't go pass 40mph.
could it be bc of a bad ecu?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

The car doesn't want to go any faster than 40 miles per hour. When I turn on the car it doesn't sound like it's wanting to idle at a normal idle. When I took it for the test drive it sounded like I was forcing it to be driven

That's the thing the guy that rebuild my motor is the one that plugged everything in I didn't rebuild the motor myself or plug it up
Re: Rebuilt engine not running cant fighter it out...
he ripped me off. He rebuilt the motor great but hooked it up and still wasn't running. I gave him the money up front bc my car was at his house and after he got the money he was in a rush to get it off his property running or not. He said you asked me to rebuild it n install not make sure it's running... this is where I am right now

ouch!
good luck on getting some legal actions against him then...
Concerning the engine, then the best you can do is poke around, unplug and plug back sensors, etc.
also, check if spark order is correct on the distributor
check timing (cam, spark)
