Civic idles fine, when I rev it and attempt to rev it again it cuts out backfires

engine is a d16y7
So when I Rev my civic it goes up fine but as it drops if I rev it again it cuts out and backfires, it sometimes shoots a flame so I’m not sure if it’s cutting spark or what but I’ve replaced my distributor, spark plugs and wires, set my tps, cleaned the iac
the car isn’t throwing any codes except for p1298 (ELD) so I replaced that but I’m still getting the code

the civic has
1320 uel headers w/ bumper exit (so no o2 sensor)
Swapped the y8 intake manifold on
some mystery cam that my friend had in his civic
I’m at an absolute loss and have no clue what’s going on with the car

So no o2 sensors at all? That's a pretty big issue

do you really think that could be the issue? I’ll connect them and fab up some holes and see what happens.

The whole point of the primary o2 sensor is to measure the air fuel ratio and then the computer decides if it needs to adjust the mixture leaner or richer

I will try that in the morning, I’ll keep you updated

the main reason I didn’t run th o2 sensors is bc the bung that comes on the 1320 headers is a different thread pitch so I didn’t wanna risk cross threading it so I’ll try fabbing up something

If it is an o2 sensor that would be odd as I have no o2 sensor codes when I scan it, even tho I have neither o2 sensor hooked up
