97 EX misfire
97 EX misfire
So like the title says, I have a 97 civic with roughly 355K miles original D16Y8 motor and trans! I am now getting random misfire codes and am tired or throwing parts at this thing to try and figure it out.
the codes I am getting are P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire, P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire, P1300 and P1399. I have recently (within the past 2 weeks) replaced Plugs, Plug wires, Distributer cap and rotor, PCV valve. I recently did the timing belt and all was good for about a month after I finished that and all of a sudden these codes came up and I cant figure it out.
Head gasket was done last year using honda gasket, head was sent off to be resurfaced and checked for cracks and shows no signs of being bad again. any insight would be much appreciated.

Re: 97 EX misfire
Reset the ECU and see if the codes come back. Valves adjusted within past 30k miles? Read reply. #6 in this link: https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-...ensor-1405526/
Re: 97 EX misfire
Yeah I adjusted the valves when I did the head gasket BUT I think I might have solved my problem.
So when I put new plug wires on the wire its self inside the tube that is supposed to snap in the terminal of the spark plug was pushed up about an inch or so inside the tube and the cable never "snapped" onto the plug, so it was still getting spark but not full spark if that makes sense. I was able to push the wire further down the tube and I heard it snap on the plug, drove if around for about 10 miles and no check engine light and its running a lot better.
will post back after a few days if this solved the issue
